Neill Blomkamp is a South African film director who was originally penciled by Peter Jackson (director/producer of The Lord of the Rings films) to direct the Halo movie.  The Halo film has been suspended “indefinitly” due to high cost of production and Peter Jackson’s choice of Neill as director.

Well, I’ve been a fan of Neill Blomkamp’s short films (don’t forget he also did the Halo 3 live-action promotion) and one that particularly stood out was Alive in Joburg  a concept about aliens living in South African slums.  Well, you can imagine how excited I was to learn that Peter Jackson is turning  Alive in Joburg into a full blown film!  Perhaps the Halo movie might see the light of day after all…
